Jessica Roberts didn’t title this picture but it is probably my favorite of her Scenery album photos. It is clean and fresh. It reminds me of a new day, a new beginning. It makes me happy and I like feeling happy.
Photo sharing networks are gateways into visual information. These social gatherings help us keep in touch, share our lives and explore new things. That’s the basics. But how can you and I best use the vast amount of photo information we have access to now that these social networks are at our fingertips? Immediately, I thought of Orlando.
Why Orlando?
Well, I used to travel a lot for my previous job. Part of that travel was choosing hotels and meeting sights for client events. Based on the west coast, I had to make these choices 90% of the time without ever seeing the space. Most hotel sites give you only pictures of the parts of the hotels that THEY want you to see. These photos, in my opinion, can only be half-heartedly trusted. What I really would have wanted in those situations are photos from some random traveler who stayed their for a weekend and experienced the room, the food and the service. That is where photo sharing can help.
I have been dreaming of the sun this week. Here in the great Northwest, the sun has been out but it has been a tepid 50 degrees. Not exactly tank top weather for me, I’m afraid. But lying on the beach, soaking up the sun, getting that golden tan - oh how that sounds outstanding.
Feeling like me? Dreaming of getting a golden tan now in preparation for swimsuit season? By all means, find a quality tanning salon and make an appointment!
Does anything say “peaceful” better than a picturesque sunset on the water. This photo by Jessica Roberts in her Scenery album puts me at rest. Read the rest of this entry »
Looking to send an ecard or letter saying your sorry or sending your condolences? There are some wonderful photographs taken by Jessica Roberts in her Scenery album that are absolutely breathtaking. They remind me of life and peace, and make me feel like calling an old friend and telling them I’m sorry. These pictures evoke emotions - precisely what good photos are meant to do. Today’s Pic of the Day is one in her collection.
So few of us get to touch an exotic animal - or what we consider exotic. Think about all the animals you talk about when you’re a kid. The animals that you used to pretend to be when you had make-believe sessions with your six-year-old friends. Lions, tigers, rhinoceroses, elephants, giraffes, pythons - these are the great animals of the American child’s world. These are the one’s we want to touch. And sorry, zoo’s are neat and have their place, but to ride one, to see one in the wild - that’s special.
Members on photospace have captured some pretty cool animals on camera. And what’s more exciting, you get to see these friends and family actually touch these great creatures and interact with them. Check out some of the crazy pics I was able to find on our member pages:
It used to be that you shared your adventures with friends by writing them a long letter or telling them the twists and turns that got you into an incredible situation while sipping beers at a party. Well, you can still do that, I even encourage you to do that. But if you have no talent for writing or have the inability to verbally explain the awesomeness that was your recent vacation, for goodnes takes - please take a freakin’ video of it and share it. Videos are the story tellers of this generation. Videos let all of us experience major historical events, visually stunning scapes and adrenalin rushing extreme sports. Perfect example, Cesar Schneider shared an incredible video of a base jumping experience here on Photospace(video originated by Rob86879). Would I ever do this - a resounding NO. But I get to watch the experience from the comfort of my own living room thanks to the power of video sharing.
We all love those Girls Next Door and wish we could hang around the Playboy mansion whenever we liked. I guess the next best thing is watching the show on E! and checking out pics from those lucky few that get to traipse about once in a while.
Check out the great pics of Holly Huddleston here on Photospace playing around at the playboy mansion. The fabulous Olly Girl gets candid with exotic birds, checks out the infamous grotto and cuddles with Hef. Read the rest of this entry »
I wish I could tell you more about this picture - hopefully Bil will share more details about where and how this photo was taken. It’s pretty startling / amazing.
The greatest thing about Photospace (I think) is that all you fantastic users out there can create fuller, more meaningful photo galleries by adding music to your images. Suddenly the photo space galleries become multi-sensory playgroundswhere you get the sensation that you are actually there with the photographer as the shot is being taken or in the photo with the menagerie of smiling faces as they are captured on film with the soundtrack of life playing in the background. That’s how I felt today when I came across Garrett Beck’s “Miscellaneous Photos” album. The images are great but the Record Collection photo below is my favorite. I guess because it went so perfectly with the Andrew Bird’s “Sovay” he put with it.
This is the art of now This is the emergence of something great
The Italian mafia is getting glorified on Facebook and this worries the Italian authorities. Over the last few months thousands of people have joined Facebook pro-Mafia groups that glorify mob bosses Salvatore “Toto” Riina and his successor Bernardo Provenzano. One side says having these groups damages Facebook, another says this is open discussion and free speech. Facebook has taken down a few of the Mafia-praising content because it violated their terms of use but many groups are still flourishing.
Ultimately what the authorities are worried about is that these groups are more than just a few kids with a fascination with the mob but rather a new mechanism for gangsters to pass information. In the end, nothing criminal has been reported so there’s not much they can do but watch and see.
