PhotoSpace Blog | Sharing Photos and Hot Pics

I was thinking the other day about how great it would be to get ‘real’ pictures of food options at some of today’s best restaurants to get an idea of whether I really wanted to order it. I mean, the photos on menus at the chain restaurants are clearly touched up versions of what actually comes out of the kitchen. And the sloppy plates of food on the windows of most fast Chinese and Mexican food restaurants are hardly appetizing.

I guess that is one of the benefits of a site like Photospace. You can start your own photo blog or photo album dedicated to the food you have ordered and eaten. You can leave comments on whether it was worth it and recommend it or help us all avoid it. It’s really easy these days with cameras built into your phones and simple programs for downloading and posting them to your favorite photosharing site.

Photo sharing networks are gateways into visual information.  These social gatherings help us keep in touch, share our lives and explore new things. That’s the basics.  But how can you and I best use the vast amount of photo information we have access to now that these social networks are at our fingertips?  Immediately, I thought of Orlando.

Why Orlando?

Well, I used to travel a lot for my previous job.  Part of that travel was choosing hotels and meeting sights for client events.  Based on the west coast, I had to make these choices 90% of the time without ever seeing the space. Most hotel sites give you only pictures of the parts of the hotels that THEY want you to see. These photos, in my opinion, can only be half-heartedly trusted.  What I really would have wanted in those situations are photos from some random traveler who stayed their for a weekend and experienced the room, the food and the service.  That is where photo sharing can help.

Looking to send an ecard or letter saying your sorry or sending your condolences? There are some wonderful photographs taken by Jessica Roberts in her Scenery album that are absolutely breathtaking. They remind me of life and peace, and make me feel like calling an old friend and telling them I’m sorry. These pictures evoke emotions - precisely what good photos are meant to do. Today’s Pic of the Day is one in her collection.

We all love those Girls Next Door and wish we could hang around the Playboy mansion whenever we liked. I guess the next best thing is watching the show on E! and checking out pics from those lucky few that get to traipse about once in a while.

You Decide….

Living in a cold climate region and wishing for the warmth of summer air? Jealous of all those friends who are making plans for a winter get away to some tropical island and blue sea coast line?  I am desperately trying to plan a week in Mexico to get some much needed sun and tequila. But alas, that may or may not happen.  So in the meantime, I’ve started going through photos of my last great beach-side vacation and imagining I am there - the surf sounds in my ear, the breeze off the water, the smell of tanning oil and fruit juice.

As I’ve poured over my photos, I’ve also looked over the Photospace photos shared by members on the site.  Some of you have taken some awesome vacations and some incredible pics that make me jealous.
